A POLICE officer tore up the evidence of a 12-year-old girl who claimed she was being abused by Asian men in Rotherham, a court heard.
The woman – now in her 30s – said he questioned her after she confided in staff at her children’s home.
She said: “He came and picked me up but later ripped up loads of paperwork and said I was lying.”
But she contacted the police a year ago after the Rotherham scandal broke.
The jury was shown an interview where she sobs as she tells how she was made to perform a sex act aged 12.
Five men and two women are accused of 51 offences against girls from the Rotherham area from 1987 to 2003. The trial at Sheffield crown court continues.
